The Wee Writing Lassie and Ailish Sinclair present “Bubbles Galore” – Question 4: Hopes for the School Year?

Bubbles wants everything to be boring this year at the castle to help her stay well-balanced and calm.

Excerpt: It’s going to be the most boring year of my life. I’m very determined about that. You know, it’s not going to be like last year. This time there’ll be no naked dancing, or television appearances. No fires in stone circles. No hospital stays. No meltdowns. There’s nothing to see here! Move it along!

Bubbles: Dancing Through History

It’s going to be the most boring year of her life. That’s what Bubbles has decided. This, her second year at the castle school, will involve no naked dancing, or television appearances. No fires in stone circles. No meltdowns. No hospital stays. You know, not like last year.

As she walks up the tree-lined drive towards the castle, she is immediately surrounded by TV reporters. Next she encounters the enigmatic and charming new boy, American student Aiden, and finds herself in an instalove situation. Being cast as the lead in a historical documentary is altogether too exciting and fun, as are the night-time visits to caves and underground chambers.

As Bubbles navigates her difficult home life, the complexities of her mental health and various intense experiences at the castle, she struggles to maintain equilibrium.

Will she be able to find balance amidst the chaos, or will her carefully laid ‘boring’ plan unravel completely?

Dive into this captivating coming-of-age tale filled with drama, romance, and self-discovery.

The Wee Writing Lassie and Ailish Sinclair present “Bubbles Galore” – Question 3 Favourite Person in the World

Near the beginning of the story, Bubbles would say Aiden is her favourite person, the new student at the school. As to who it really is, the reader will see that expressed in various ways throughout the story, and they may work it out before Bubbles herself.

Excerpt: Okay. I like this. I know that this is so that she and I can talk in private. Like the besties we are. But the moment we are out of earshot of the great hall and into the kitchen passageway, she starts giving me a hard time.

“Don’t you go fancying him,” she says.

“I don’t fancy him.”

“You do.”

I shrug. It’s probably not a good idea to state that this goes beyond fancying and that I’ve actually fallen in love with Aiden. Love at first sight. Instalove.

The Wee Writing Lassie and Ailish Sinclair present “Bubbles Galore” – Question 2: Favourite Family Member?

Her favourite family members would be her little sister, Jasmine, and her mum. She’s close with both of them.

Excerpt: I hold the posh black handbag in my hands as I sit on the bed. In my room. In the castle. Getting ready for Alexander’s party. Trying not to cry.

I don’t know how my mum did it, you see. She has no money of her own. I didn’t think she had anyway. She must have had some squirrelled away. And she spent it on me.

The Wee Writing Lassie’s 300 Books in a Year – Book 45

Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes

Goodreads Blurb: Meet Rachel Walsh. She has a pair of size 8 feet and such a fondness for recreational drugs that her family has forked out the cash for a spell in Cloisters – Dublin’s answer to the Betty Ford Clinic. She’s only agreed to her incarceration because she’s heard that rehab is wall-to-wall jacuzzis, gymnasiums and rock stars going tepid turkey – and it’s about time she had a holiday.

(Goodreads Page)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads Review: Yep … it’s official, this is my favourite Walsh Family Book. And that’s amazing because it not even about my favourite Walsh sister, Helen.

The Wee Writing Lassie’s 300 Books in a Year – Book 44

Watermelon by Marian Keyes

Goodreads Blurb: Claire has everything she ever wanted: a husband she adores, a great apartment, a good job. Then, on the day she gives birth to their first baby, James informs her that he’s leaving her. Claire is left with a newborn daughter, a broken heart, and a postpartum body that she can hardly bear to look at.

(Goodreads Page)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads Review: I love a good asshole husband story, don’t get me wrong the books where it’s more complicated and no one’s entirely in the wrong are good too, but ooh, sometimes you just prefer to read a good old fashioned villain.

Ariel: Dancing on TV by Ailish Sinclair

Goodreads Blurb: The night before Ariel, a sixteen-year-old girl with a deformed hand, starts at the most prestigious dance school in Scotland, her mother tries to kill her.

(Goodreads Page)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads Review: Given how it starts – with the attempted murder of our main character by her own mother no less – you would be forgiven in thinking Ariel would turn out to be a tragic story, full of loss, pain and wicked mothers. And while there are some of those elements in there, ultimately Ailish Sinclair’s newest work is a heartwarming celebration of love, friendship, and the powerful healing properties of dance competitions.

The Wee Writing Lassie’s 300 Books in a Year – Book 42

Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift

Goodreads Blurb: Gulliver’s Travels describes the four voyages of Lemuel Gulliver, a ship’s surgeon. In Lilliput he discovers a world in miniature; towering over the people and their city, he is able to view their society from the viewpoint of a god.

(Goodreads Page)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads Review: The first thing I said after finishing this book – “What a dick”. The second thing I said after finishing this book – “Why don’t you go back and live with the stupid horses, no one wants you here.” Thus ends my discovery of why so often only the first part of this book gets adapted.
